garbage screen display on hp x20led

hi

my problem is with the display on my hp x20led, excuse me while i try and type without really being able to read it!

yesterday i was editing a graphic using fireworks when the display flickered and became ghostly with a faint line at the top and almost horzontal and vertical lines

my drivers for my video adapter nvidia geforce 710 and my hp x20led are up to date, have been removed and reinstalled, problem persists

have used menu button on screen and reset, problem persists

have changed my dvi cable and problem persists

if i have my pc switched off and i just turn on monitor then ghostly screen with faint lines appear

i've been into windows safe mode and exactly same, tho at 800x600 resolution rather that 1600 things are almost readable

am beginning to think monitor has junked but don't just want to spend out on a new one on the off chance

any other ideas?

if fails by self (OSD menus look bad)

or 2 PCs
