usually horizontal lines after turning on the computer quickly disappeared before. But since I unplugged the monitor's power cord and returned 5 days later, the horizontal lines became even larger and then the screen itself began to fade. The PC itself and the monitor are approximately 3 years old. I want to ask if I can somehow fix a monitor with such problems, since after connecting to the xbox 360 the monitor works quite well.

Hi @Rocert,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your monitor may have developed some issues, especially since it works well with the Xbox 360. Here are some steps you can try to diagnose and potentially fix the problem:
Check Connections:
- Ensure all cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) are securely connected. Try using a different cable to see if that resolves the issue.
Test with Another Device:
- Since the monitor works with the Xbox 360, try connecting it to another computer to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the monitor or the original PC.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- On your PC, ensure that the graphics drivers are up to date. You can update them through Device Manager or the manufacturer's website.
Adjust Display Settings:
- Check the display resolution and refresh rate settings in the PC’s display settings to ensure they are compatible with the monitor.
Factory Reset the Monitor:
- If your monitor has an option for factory reset in its menu, try resetting it to see if it resolves the issue.
Inspect for Physical Damage:
- Look for any visible signs of damage to the monitor, such as cracks or loose connections.
Monitor Calibration:
- If your monitor has calibration settings, try adjusting the settings for brightness and contrast.
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure the monitor is well-ventilated and not overheating, which can sometimes cause display issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
