Hi @elijah37
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your PC is stuck on the loading screen after performing a factory reset, it may be due to an issue with the reset process, the system files, or hardware conflicts. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reboot
Sometimes a hard reboot can resolve the issue by refreshing the hardware state.
- Hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds to force the PC to shut down completely.
- Once the PC is off, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on.
- If the issue persists, proceed with the following steps.
2. Boot into Safe Mode
You can try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot further. Safe Mode allows your PC to load with only essential drivers and services, which can help bypass any issues that might be preventing the normal boot process.
To boot into Safe Mode:
Interrupt the normal boot process:
- Turn on the PC and as soon as you see the Windows logo or loading screen, press and hold the power button to force a shutdown.
- Repeat this process 2-3 times, and on the third attempt, Windows should automatically go into Recovery Mode.
Enter Safe Mode:
- In Recovery Mode, select Advanced options.
- Go to Startup Settings and click Restart.
- Once the PC restarts, you’ll see a list of options. Press F4 to boot into Safe Mode.
Troubleshoot:
- Once in Safe Mode, you can try a few things to fix the issue:
- Run a System File Check (SFC): Open Command Prompt (as Administrator) and run sfc /scannow to check and repair any corrupted system files.
- Uninstall recent updates or drivers if any were applied during the factory reset.
3. Use System Repair Options
If you can't boot into Safe Mode, you can use the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) to attempt a repair.
Access WinRE:
- Start by turning your PC on and forcing it to shut down during the boot process (like in the Safe Mode step). Do this 2-3 times until WinRE appears.
Select Troubleshoot:
- In the WinRE menu, select Troubleshoot.
Startup Repair:
- Choose Advanced options.
- Select Startup Repair to attempt fixing any boot issues automatically.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. Windows will try to fix any problems it detects with the startup process.
I hope this helps.
