hp monitor not turning on

Hi - My monitor is plugged into my laptop with a vga adapter. yet it's still yellow and says input not detected. no idea what else to do.

Hello
no other possible connectors to the monitor, just vga?
1 / check if there is not a special button on the laptop, to switch to a screen!
2 / check, the input search option if there is on the screen (automatic, manual Vga or dvi etc)
3 / check, if it is not the adapter, which does not suit
4 / test the screen if possible with another vga / vga computer!
etc
