HP Pavilion Power Desktop - 580-023w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I want to set up dual monitors for my desktop. I previously connected my monitor to the HDMI port on the top and it works perfectly. I know that the bottom two HDMI ports are not functioning. So I bought a displayport cable. I have tried the three DisplayPort on the top, right next to the HDMI port, and none of them works. My monitor would show "no DP signal from your device. " Does this desktop support DisplayPort? How can I set up dual monitors?

Thank you.

The specs of your machine is

It has  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3 GB) with following ports

  • Form Factor: ATX (full height) PCB with ATX dual slot bracket
  • Dimensions: 11.2 cm x 17.3 cm (4.4 x 6.8 in)
  • Rear I/O connectors: Dual Link DVI-D + HDMI + 3 DisplayPort
  • Maximum resolution:
    • DVI (dual-link) resolution: 2560x1600x32bpp @ 60 Hz
    • HDMI resolution: 4096x2160x24 bpp @ 60 Hz (HDMI 2.0)
    • DisplayPort resolution: 5120x3200x24bpp @ 60 Hz / 7680x4320 @ 60 Hz YUV 420 8 bit
      note:
Not all ports support the highest resolutions.

It also has following video out ports from its motherboard but they are all disabled

  1. USB 2.0: 2
  2. LAN (Ethernet)
  3. HDMI out: 2
  4. USB 3.0: 2
  5. Audio: Line in
  6. Audio: Line out
  7. Audio: Microphone

Does your monitor have DP input ? A direct DP-HDMI cable should work. Have you tried them all ?  I know DVI-HDMI works but had not tested DP to HDMI.

Regards.

Hi BH,

Thank you for your response. I am trying with a DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. My Monitor has DP input. I have tried to connect the monitor to a laptop using DP input and it works. So the monitor is good. I have tried all 3 DP inputs but none of them work. I don't have a DP-HDMI cable now. Maybe I can buy a DP-HDMI cable and try.
