Hi @Titonline,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When facing incompatibility issues between your HP Pavilion p6 series computer and the NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4GB graphics card, several factors could be causing the problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps and considerations to help you resolve the issue:

Power Supply Requirements: The NVIDIA Quadro P1000 may require more power than your HP Pavilion p6 series' power supply unit (PSU) can deliver. Ensure that your PSU has enough capacity to support the power demands of the Quadro P1000, which typically requires a 47W power draw. Upgrading to a higher wattage PSU may be necessary.

PCI Express Slot Compatibility: Ensure that your motherboard has a compatible PCI Express (PCIe) slot. The Quadro P1000 uses a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface. Your HP Pavilion p6 series should have a compatible slot, but it's important to verify that it is not damaged or obstructed.

BIOS Settings: Sometimes, BIOS settings can prevent the detection or proper operation of a new graphics card. Access your computer's BIOS and ensure that the PCIe slot is enabled and set as the primary display adapter if applicable. You may also need to update your BIOS to the latest version to ensure compatibility with newer hardware.

Graphics Card Drivers: Incompatibility issues can often be resolved by installing the correct drivers. Download and install the latest drivers for the NVIDIA Quadro P1000 from the official NVIDIA website. If you had a different graphics card installed before, ensure that its drivers are completely uninstalled to prevent conflicts.

Operating System Compatibility: Check that your operating system is up to date and compatible with the NVIDIA Quadro P1000. Updating your OS might resolve any compatibility issues.

Physical Installation: Double-check the physical installation of the graphics card. Ensure that it is properly seated in the PCIe slot and that any necessary power connectors are securely attached.

Thermal Management: Ensure that your system has adequate cooling. High-performance graphics cards like the Quadro P1000 generate significant heat, and insufficient cooling can lead to system instability or shutdowns.

Check for Hardware Conflicts: Use your operating system's device manager to check for hardware conflicts. If there are any, they may be indicated with a yellow exclamation mark. Resolving these conflicts can sometimes fix compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
