Hi @kianooshmoodi

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP E243 monitor is not recognizing an HDMI connection but supports VGA, there are a few things you can try before resorting to resetting the monitor settings:

1. Check HDMI Input Source

  • Make sure the monitor is set to the correct input source. Use the monitor's on-screen menu to select HDMI as the input. Sometimes, it may default to VGA.

2. Inspect HDMI Ports

  • Examine both the HDMI port on the monitor and the HDMI connector on your cable for any dust, debris, or damage. Clean them gently if needed.

3. Test Different Devices

  • Connect the HDMI cable to a different device (like a laptop, gaming console, or another computer) to see if the monitor recognizes the HDMI input. This will help determine if the issue is with the monitor or the device you're trying to connect.

4. Try a Different HDMI Cable

  • While you mentioned trying different HDMI cables, ensure that they are high-quality and support the necessary specifications (e.g., HDMI 1.4 or higher).

5. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Make sure the graphics drivers on your computer are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause issues with HDMI connections.

6. Adjust Display Settings on Your Computer

  • Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings. Make sure your computer detects the monitor. You may need to click Detect or adjust the resolution settings.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, monitors have firmware updates available. Check the HP support website for any updates specific to your E243 model.

8. Power Cycle the Monitor

  • Turn off the monitor, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
