@baymont, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding "HDMI Inactive" Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your computer display is showing "HDMI Inactive" and you've checked the HDMI status without any change, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check the Cable Connections

  • Ensure that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the monitor and the computer.
  • Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out a faulty cable.

2. Select the Correct Input Source

  • If your monitor supports multiple input sources, make sure HDMI is selected as the input source. This can usually be done with the monitor's menu buttons:
    • Navigate to the input selection in the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu.
    • Select HDMI from the list of inputs.

3. Restart the Devices

  • Turn off both the computer and the monitor.
  • Unplug the HDMI cable from both ends.
  • Wait for about 10 seconds, then reconnect the HDMI cable.
  • Turn on the monitor first, then the computer.

4. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Ensure that your computer’s graphics drivers are up to date:
    • Visit the graphics card manufacturer's website.
    • Download and install the latest drivers.

5. Test with Another Device

  • Connect another HDMI-enabled device (such as a different computer, laptop, or gaming console) to the monitor to check if the problem persists. This helps to identify if the issue is with the monitor or the computer.

6. Use a Different Port

  • If your monitor has multiple HDMI ports, try connecting the HDMI cable to a different port.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
