God, this is driving me bonkers and I am at my wits end.
I have an hp 24f monitor and an hp pavillion hard drive, The monitor is like two years old and I have never had an issue. It was working fine until a week or so ago. Powered up my computer after having it off for the night and i got the input signal not found and that both display options were inactive. i have swapped out the vga cord and hdmi cords, still get the same message. Computer was working fine the day before and there was no issues with the monitor so why did it suddenly conk out? I have tried everything I could find. Still does not work on vga or hdmi. Please help.

@Silverecho -- have you tried connecting the monitor to a different computer?
Of course, you will have to use the "input" function on the monitor to tell it to "listen" to the correct video-input port (VGA? DVI? HDMI? DisplayPort?), based on what video-output that the other computer is sending.
