I have two monitors attached to my hp pavilion gaming desktop TG01, One display failed. I switched connection at monitors and the other monitor works so it is not a monitor problem. I then swapped the connections at the computer and only one monitor came on, Thus I conclude that perhaps it is the graphics card that failed for one display. Agree?
If so, and I buy a new card, is RTX2060 a standard such that I can buy any brand that is RTX 2060 or higher?
Thanks very much!

Hi @IGRAFFMAN
Welcome to the HP support community.
Based on your troubleshooting, it does sound like the issue may be with the graphics card, especially since one monitor works fine with both connections.
Graphics Card Diagnosis
- If you've confirmed that both monitors are functioning properly and that the connections at the PC yield only one monitor working, it suggests that the graphics card may indeed be the culprit.
Buying a New Graphics Card
- RTX 2060 Compatibility: Yes, the RTX 2060 is a standard model, and you can generally buy any brand of RTX 2060 (like ASUS, MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc.) as long as it fits in your system.
- Considerations:
- Physical Size: Make sure the card fits in your case. Check the dimensions and compare them with your desktop.
- Power Supply: Ensure your power supply can handle the new card. The RTX 2060 typically requires a 500W power supply with the appropriate PCIe power connectors.
- Cooling: Ensure your case has adequate airflow, especially if you're upgrading to a more powerful card.
Upgrading Options
If you're considering a higher model (like RTX 3060 or above), ensure that:
- Your system can support the newer technology.
- Your power supply is adequate for the upgraded card.
Installation
When you install the new card, make sure to:
- Remove the old card carefully.
- Install the new one securely in the PCIe slot.
- Connect any necessary power connectors.
- Install the latest drivers from NVIDIA after the installation.

Notification of your reply went to my spam folder. But I did purchase a new graphics card and with the help of Youtube videos swapped out the old card for the new card and I now have two screens again.
Thanks for the help!
