Hi @andres86,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with the brightness control on your HP Laptop. Let's try a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve the problem.

  • Check Keyboard Functionality: Sometimes, the keys themselves might be malfunctioning. Test other function keys to see if they are working properly. If not, there may be an issue with the keyboard.
  • Update Drivers: You mentioned that you've already updated the drivers, but let's double-check. Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu), find the Display Adapters section, and make sure your graphics driver is up-to-date. Also, check for updates for the keyboard driver.
  • BIOS Update: Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware-related issues. Visit HP's support website and see if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop model.
  • Power Settings: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options. Check if your power plan settings are affecting the brightness control. Adjust the settings accordingly.
  • Display Settings: Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings. Look for the brightness slider and try adjusting it from there.
  • HP Hotkey Support: Some HP laptops have dedicated software for managing hotkeys. Check if there's any HP Hotkey Support or similar software installed on your laptop. Ensure it's up-to-date and configured correctly.
  • System Restore: If the issue started recently, you can try restoring your system to a point before the problem occurred. Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu and follow the prompts to restore your system.
  • Hardware Check: If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with your laptop's keyboard or display.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
