Hello, I have a problem with my HP Pavilion (Windows 11).
The problem is that the screen brightness level does not work and it is dark.
I have already checked the battery options, power saving settings, and system updates, but nothing has worked.
It is strange because when I set the brightness to 40%, it works, but when I select more than 40%, it goes dark as if it were at 0%.
Can you please help me?

Hi @NicholasG999,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already done some troubleshooting, but let's delve a bit deeper to see if we can pinpoint the issue. Here are some additional steps you can try.
- Update Graphics Drivers: Sometimes outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause issues with brightness control. Visit the HP support website or use Windows Update to check for any available graphics driver updates and install them if necessary.
- BIOS Update: Occasionally, BIOS updates can address hardware compatibility issues or provide fixes for brightness control problems. Check if there's a BIOS update available for your HP Pavilion model and follow the instructions to install it.
- Brightness Control Utility: Some laptops come with their own utility software for managing display settings. Check if HP has any specific software for controlling brightness and ensure it's up to date.
- Hardware Issue: If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with the display or the components responsible for adjusting brightness.
- System Restore: If the problem started occurring after a recent software update or installation, performing a system restore to a point before the issue began might resolve it.
- External Factors: Ensure there are no external factors affecting the brightness, such as ambient light sensors or screen overlays that might interfere with the brightness controls.
Give these steps a try, and hopefully, you'll be able to resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
