Hi @imrankhan1,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Screen flickering on your HP Pavilion 15-cs3054nl could be caused by several factors, including software issues, outdated drivers, or hardware faults. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:
Troubleshooting Steps
- Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure your Windows 11 is up to date, as updates often include fixes for display issues.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
- Update Graphics Drivers:
- Right-click on the "Start" button and select "Device Manager."
- Expand "Display adapters."
- Right-click on your graphics card and select "Update driver."
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."
- Disable Hardware Acceleration:
- For laptops, hardware acceleration in certain applications might cause screen flickering.
- Check your browser and other applications you frequently use and locate the settings to disable hardware acceleration.
- Check Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Check the touch sensitivity settings, and try adjusting them to see if it resolves the flickering when touching the touchpad.
- Adjust Display Refresh Rate:
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings.
- Under "Refresh rate," try selecting a different refresh rate to see if it affects the flickering issue.
- Perform a Clean Boot:
- This process helps determine if background applications are causing the issue.
- Use msconfig to disable all non-Microsoft services and startup programs and restart your computer.
- Test in Safe Mode:
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to check if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, a third-party driver or application might be causing the problem.
- Boot your laptop in Safe Mode to check if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, a third-party driver or application might be causing the problem.
- Disconnect External Devices:
- Disconnect any external devices, such as USB drives or external monitors, to see if they are causing interference.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi @imrankhan1,
I understand the frustration when a manually installed graphics driver is replaced by Windows afterwards.
About updates: HP provides and validates drivers for each model and supported Windows versions listed on the product’s support page. If a newer OS build isn’t listed for your HP Pavilion 15-cs3054nl, a new HP-validated graphics driver may not be available yet (or may not be planned). We can’t promise future releases or timelines, but any update that passes validation will appear on your product’s driver page and in HP Support Assistant.
Why Windows “downgrades” the driver: Windows Update can install a Microsoft-supplied or alternate vendor package that has a higher update ranking than the one you manually installed. This is expected behaviour in some builds.
Steps to keep the HP driver in place:
- Clean install the HP-validated driver for your exact model and OS using HP Support Assistant or your product’s driver page.
- Prevent automatic replacement:
- Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings and select “No (your device might not work as expected)” to stop Windows from automatically downloading driver software.
- Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Hardware tab > Device Installation Settings and select “No (your device might not work as expected)” to stop Windows from automatically downloading driver software.
- If Windows has already replaced the driver, use Device Manager > Display adapters > (Intel Graphics) > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, then reinstall the HP package.
- Restart and verify the version remains after running Windows Update.
Please note, we are not able to check on or process an exchange for your unit through this channel.
Take care and have an amazing day!
