Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My HP all-in-one  is going to be retired (can't run windows 10) and I can use it as a monitor for a laptop - happy days!

However the screen is very dim - it appears to default to the dimmest setting - and I can't find a way to adjust this.

If your PC only has one HDMI port, that port is output only.

You cannot use your PC's display as a monitor for another device.

Thanks for getting back to me, Paul.

I thought that to be the case till earlier today when I spotted a button on the side of the computer labelled hdmi in (no where near the hdmi port!). Pushing this changes the mode and it does work as a monitor (I've tried it). The problem is that the screen is very dim and I can't work out how to change this - as I say it seems to default to the dimmest setting - at least it looks similar to the dimmest setting when using the PC as a PC.

You're very welcome.

I'm surprised the PC has a button to change the HDMI port from output to input.

Unfortunately I wouldn't know how to increase the brightness.

I was expecting to dispose of the PC anyway - using it as a monitor will be a bonus if I can get it to work... I'll keep trying.
