My camera is working and when I look for updates it says it has the latest driver but I keep getting the above message.

Hi @JW451

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

From what I have understood, you are getting an error every time you try to update the webcam of your system. Do not worry, we are here to help you with it.

May I know from where are you updating the driver? Is it from the support website or HP Support Assistant?

Did you make any hardware or software changes to your system?

Please restart your system and check if the issue persists.

You could also update the webcam driver from the Device Manager.

  1. Open Start.
  2. Search for Device Manager, and click the top result to open the app.
  3. Expand the Imaging devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers branch.
  4. Right-click the webcam and select the Update driver option.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

No, I am not getting an error when trying to update the webcam.

I keep getting a notification -

Your PC needs to be restarted to finish setting up this device

Hp 2.0mp high definition webcam

When I look for an update it says it already has the latest version.

My problem is that I regularly get the notification even though I have the latest version for the wecam.

It could be because the driver update is not yet fully complete.

Please perform the steps shared in my previous message and check if that makes any difference.

I would also suggest you restart your system after closing all the applications.

Let me know the outcome of it.

Thanks, but I have already tried all the suggestions. I have checked in Device Manager and System Updates but no updates are available for the webcam.

I have tried it with the webcam open and closed but it doesn't make any difference.

It does not happen every day but occasionally it will give the notification about restarting the PC to finish setting up the device (webcam 2.0)

I go through the same steps you have suggested each time and it always says it has the latest drivers installed.

The webcam works fine but it is just frustrating that I keep getting the same message when it doesn't need updating.

I can totally understand your concern here. I am really sorry about that.

Reinstall the webcam driver and check if that makes any difference.

  1. Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
  2. Expand Camera's categories to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select uninstall Driver.
  3. Save and restart system
  4. Automatically the latest driver will get installed.

Let me know the outcome of it.

I had not uninstalled the webcam before so I will have to see how it goes now.

I won't know if it has worked for a while so can I leave it open for a few weeks or close off now and post again if I still get the problem?

Yes, no issue.

Get back to us if the issue persists.
