Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello - I see there are many questions on this topic but I'm unable to find an answer that fits what I need.  My HP Envy screen has turned yellow with faded gray and yellow stripes - not the kind that show when you break the screen, the kind that means the screen is starting to go bad.  The laptop was purchased in November 2025 and is just out of warranty.  I need to know:

1.  How can I get a live HP person to assist me?

2.  There are options to "extend" the warranty.  Has anyone tried this, and if so, did they replace the screen for free?

3.  If I can't connect directly with an HP rep, what is the least expensive way to get the screen replaced?  Geek Squad wants $85 just to diagnose it and send it out for repair but they are pretty certain the screen needs to be replaced.  Once they have it, I'm concerned the price to replace the screen will be unreasonable.

4.  Has anyone used Geek Squad and if so, was it worth it?

Any other advice would be appreciated.  Since this issue seems to be so pervasive with HP, I'm pretty unhappy with the fact that this is a relatively new computer that was meant to last for at least 4 more years.

Thanks.

Hi @SophNorb,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the yellow screen issue on the HP Envy!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Display Connections:

  • If you're using an external monitor, ensure that all cables are properly connected and secure.
  • Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor to see if the issue persists. This can help you determine if it's a screen issue or a graphics problem.

Adjust Color Settings:

  • Go to your computer's display settings and check if any color profiles are active that might be causing the screen tint.
  • For Windows: Right-click on the desktop > Display settings > Color calibration.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause display issues. Update your graphics card drivers:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Locate Display adapters and right-click your graphics card.
    • Select "Update driver" and follow the instructions.

Perform a System Reset:

  • Sometimes, resetting system components can resolve display issues.
  • For Windows: Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • To determine if it is indeed a hardware problem, boot into BIOS mode (usually pressing F2 or F10 upon startup) and check if the yellow tint is present there too. If it is, it's likely a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.
