Adding network adaptor to OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-090nz and PC stops booting

I am trying to add a network card in my OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-090nz

The PC has one PCI/E slot available.

I have tried to add two différent HP NJC331T PCIe 649871-001 Ethernet 1GB 4-Port Adapter  647592-001 adaptors

NO SUCCESS

At reboot the PC make different sounds and does not boot.

I am sure that the two adapters are not DOA.

What could be the reason of this problem ???

What type of PCI/e adapter must be added ???

Is this issue related to a mismatch with PCI/e bus version ???

As I understand you need information on what could be added on the PCIe slot,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

Did you know that the device already has an Ethernet port? (I'm sure you did, hence the next question)

Is there any specific reason you want to add another LAN adapter?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

Click here to check your product specifications to know what exactly you've got on your PC and add new parts (if needed) accordingly.

That said, the expansion slots available on your motherboard: Two PCI Express x16 (Gen 3.0) could be used for graphics cards, TV tuner, etc...

I was aware that the mother board had a network port.

I need a second adapter for VMware.

You reply was useful regarding the PCI/e version 3.0

However I would like to know which HP adaptor are sold today with this version.

The two HP adapters I have tried are not working and I am just unable to know which version of PCI/e they running.

Looking in the market for other brands in their specs, there is no info about PCI/e version.

Therefore I would appreciate if HP could point me on an adapter running this level of PCI/e

I'm afraid we don't support installation of 3rd party hardware as the device is designed to its optimal performance,

however, if you wish to upgrade it, you may do so at your own discretion.

We don't have any information about network adapter as such supported.

I recommend you Contact the local tech for suggestion on upgrading the device.
