ok Paul. Win tried to install the dongle device but again it said failed - device not installed. Device manager does not list the device. The network adapters are the same as before inserting the dongle. Thaat's why I don't know how to install the drivers. Nothing is listed in device manager.

OK, so if Windows failed to install the device it recognized something new was being added, correct?
If that is the case, there should be some kind of device showing up in the device manager with a little ! mark next to it.
It could be listed under an Other Devices category as an unknown device.
Let me know if you see anything like that.
Going back to the onboard Bluetooth adapter (the HP Bluetooth Module with low energy support) device...
When you click on that device, it should be reporting working properly.
If that is what it indicates, did you make your PC discoverable to other Bluetooth devices?
Usually that setting is turned off by default, and you have to enable it.
See this link for how to make your PC discoverable to other Bluetooth devices...Read the info under the Windows 7 section.

Ok Paul. Did as instructed and reinserted dongle. Now under Bluetootrh Radio in device manager it now shows Realtek bluetooth 5.0 adapter. There is no exclamation mark, but under properties it says device can't start. At least there's some progress. Thanks again. I guess the next step is to click chnge or update diver and point to the folder I put your fines in. Is that correct?

Unfortunately, I don't know why you are getting that device won't start message.
Error codes in Device Manager in Windows (microsoft.com)
According to the troubleshooting guide at the link above, you can try the following steps to correct the issue:
Full Error Message
"This device cannot start. Try upgrading the device drivers for this device. (Code 10)"
Cause
Typically, the device's hardware key contains a "FailReasonString" value, and the value string is displays an error message defined by the hardware manufacturer. If the hardware key does not contain a “FailReasonString” value the message above is displayed.
Recommended resolutions
Update the driver
In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.
Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s website.
Try is to reinstall the full driver from the USB adapters support page.
File Download – MPOW (xmpow.com)
Your model BT adapter is on the left side of the page.
Hopefully that will resolve the problem.
If that doesn't work, then download and unzip the driver I attached the other day to its folder.
It is attached to my second reply on this discussion.
Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager.
Click to expand the Bluetooth device manager category.
Click on the Realtek Bluetooth adapter listed there.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for driver software' option and browse to the Bluetooth driver folder you unzipped.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

No luck Paul. The device manager said the most recent drivers were already installed. I tried the cd which came with it and again it stopped and did not install. I think I will stop taking up your time Paul. Many thanks for all your help. Guess I will just forget about the **bleep** thing and use a cable as always.
