Hello, My husband uses a desktop Pavilion 570-p030. He fell just before Christmas and is now in rehab. He will not be able to go up and down stairs because of a neck brace (broke C1& C2) which he will be wearing indefinitely. I would like to move his computer up to an area on the main floor but it is hard wired in the basement to the router. His keyboard does not have a key with an airplane which I read would make wireless possible. Since he is 80 I am trying to keep things as they were, as much as possible. Will the computer work away from the router if I replace the original keyboard? I've looked into moving the router to come in upstairs but it is expensive - we have a stone house. Do I need to upgrade the computer itself? I have always used apple so am totally out of my depth and would appreciate some help in understanding the options. His computer actually runs Windows 10 but the form wanted me to click on some categories .

It’s great that you’re looking for ways to keep your husband comfortable while maintaining his routine. Here’s what you need to know about moving his HP Pavilion 570-p030 to the main floor without running an expensive new wired connection:
Does the HP Pavilion 570-p030 Support Wi-Fi?
Unfortunately, the Pavilion 570-p030 does not have built-in Wi-Fi—it relies on a wired Ethernet connection. The lack of an "airplane key" on the keyboard does not affect this, as Wi-Fi capability depends on hardware, not the keyboard.
Options to Make It Wireless:
Since running a cable upstairs isn’t ideal, here is an alternative solutions:
Use a USB Wi-Fi Adapter (Recommended)
- This is the simplest and cheapest solution. You can buy a USB Wi-Fi adapter (also called a Wi-Fi dongle) and plug it into one of the computer's USB ports.
- Make sure to get a dual-band adapter that supports at least Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for a stable connection.
- Setup: Plug it in, install drivers (if needed), and connect to your Wi-Fi.
If general Wi-Fi coverage is poor, a Wi-Fi extender or mesh system might help.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
