I shutdown and unplugged the computer to relocate to another room. When I power on and turn on I get a blue screen message SMART Hard Disk Error. I chose F2 for system diagnostics which says processor check passed but hard drive SMART check failed. Further diagnostic info: failing drive - SATAO, failing attribute #B8. I can select ENTER option to continue startup, then F1 to boot. Everything comes up “normal” except cannot connect to my secure wifi and search bar bottom left of screen not populating. Ran network diagnostics says problem with wireless adapter or access port. Other computers in same location and using same wifi network have no issues, so it’s definitely this computer.
My question the SATAO drive fail something that can be fixed? Thanks

Yes. The drive needs to be replaced. According to the spec page that unit has a "Hybrid SATA drive" 1TB
Now would be an excellent time to change it to a total SSD, which would make it respond even faster than the hybrid drive. The old drive is a 2.5" which the same as the normal SSD replacements. Here are some examples for replacement.

Thank you for your response. I found a youbreakitIfixit tech place local, they concur hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced. I thought about upgrading to a bigger/faster hard drive however, the current hard drive has served more than adequately as far as speed and space until now. The computer is a 2015 , 7 years old so I decided not worth the additional expense to upgrade. Fortunately, someone told me about a Asurian home tech insurance for $27 a month, no waiting period and can cancel at anytime covers all your home tech items;tvs, laptops, desktops, smart lights, etc. I purchased that which will cover the cost of data recovery transfer to the new drive so I will only have the expense of the hard drive. Should have my computer back by tomorrow. Thanks again

That is a fortunate find. I hope they do as advertised. Seems pretty reasonable.
Good luck with the experience.
