Hello,

I recently purchased a HP ProDesk 400 G3 SFF, which was originally running Windows 11 Pro. However, I do not have the activation key for Windows 11 Pro. To make it easier to connect with my Samsung phone, I decided to install Chrome OS. Unfortunately, the USB Wi-Fi adapter that worked under Windows 11 no longer functions with Chrome OS.

I would like to know which USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters would be compatible with Chrome OS on this model of PC. Additionally, is it possible to install a compatible internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card on my HP ProDesk 400 G3?

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

Codivquatum

I actually have no experience with using Chrome OS on a HP laptop but here is a guide I found from YouTube, it might be a slight variation on what you have

If interested on the Windows that is already installed, It might be easier than the Chrome.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. However, I fear that the YouTube video you suggested doesn't directly address my specific issue. I have already installed Chrome OS on my HP ProDesk 400 G3 SFF, and I'm looking for information on compatible USB Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, or advice on installing a compatible internal Wi-Fi and Bluetooth card.

I must have linked the incorrect item

This one talks about the Chrome Flex OS which is different from the regular Chrome OS.  It has been modified, perhaps to included needed extras, IE drivers.  IDK but worth a try.

HP does not approve drivers for a non-supported OS.

Thank you for taking the time to help me. I tried installing Chrome OS Flex, but unfortunately, it still doesn't work as expected. Regarding Windows, I bought the PC with Windows 11 Pro, but the seller didn't provide me with the code to reinstall it, so I will have to purchase it again. I appreciate your suggestions and assistance.

Sorry about not being able to help with the Chrome OS, those links were a long shot, as I do not have any experience with that.

As for the Windows 11 Pro, if that was ever installed or Windows 10 was ever installed, you can reinstall Windows with the install media from Microsoft without having to buy it.

I can give assistance with that if you like.  Just let me know what had been installed on the PC.

I am indeed interested in reinstalling Windows 11 Pro, but it seems that I overwrote the previous installation by installing Chrome OS. For now, I’ve installed Chrome OS Flex, but I’m still encountering issues. I’ll consider returning to Windows 11 Pro, but this might require purchasing a new activation key since I no longer have it.

Thank you again for your help!

I understand.  FYI: that hardware on the PC is question does not support Windows 11, so you might want to read this thread, especially the answer from Paul - marked as a solution - note the Blue Highlighted link titled

Read thru that link.  It might solve your problem.  Read thru whole thing.
