Computer not Recognising Wireless Mouse?

HP Recommended
Wireless Mouse 200
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I recently got a Wireless Mouse 200 as a gift. It seems to turn on fine after putting the batteries in, but even with the USB plug inserted, my computer can't seem to detect it.

The online support notes mention a battery strip which prevents the mouse from receiving power unless removed. However, the strip doesn't seem to pull out. Mouse.jpeg

Oh, I managed to pull the strip out (finally), but the mouse is still not working.
