I want to know if my HP desktop computer has its own in-built Wi-Fi. For a long time I have had it connected to an external Wi-Fi router by an ethernet cable. However, I have moved house recently and my desktop PC and the external router have to be in separate rooms. This means a long ethernet cable which has to be fitted and "hidden". I would like the PC to connect directly to the Wi-Fi router like many other devices I have, but when I go into Windows Settings > Network & Internet the items in the left-hand menu are: 'Status', 'Ethernet', 'Dial-up', 'VPN', 'Data usage' and 'Proxy'. As can be seen I do not have 'Wi-Fi' as an option. I do not know whether this is because my HP desktop computer does not have Wi-Fi or if it has malfunctioned. I have tried an Internet search for my PC's specifications but have been unable to find them so that is why I am posing this question.

Hi:
According to the specs it does, but according to the picture of the wifi card shown, the Ralink wifi adapter does not work with W10, and has an unusual behavior of completely disappearing from the device manager on W10.

I suggest you purchase an external USB wifi adapter that has full support for W10.

I thought it had a Wi-Fi card but your answer explains what's happened to it.
I'm really not good with technology so could you name/recommend a USB wifi adapter that has full support for W10 so I have a good idea of what I'm looking for and can shop round for one.

I don't know what is available in the UK.
I would check the Amazon UK website, read the reviews, and get a USB adapter that has the best reviews, and fits your budget.
The older Linksys AE3000 wifi adapters that I use on 3 of my HP desktops, and work great on W10, I do not see available in the UK.
It even looks like I would have a hard time finding one here now too.
