We recently had a very close lightning strike and it damaged the modem from Spectrum/Brighthouse and also seems to have disabled the ethernet port on the back of my desktop computer. Does anyone know if the drivers can be reloaded for the ethernet or if not, does the whole motherboard need to be replaced or can just the ethernet port be pulled out and replaced. I hate to take it to a repair person and be taken for a joy ride while they either charge me for parts and labor that I do not need or just yank my chain for being uninformed. Any help would be appreciated.

Please try the driver first

My real experience with exactly same problem: few years back and insurance company replaced the motherboard after sending a techco to my house and he could not fix. I did not try to fix myself.
Please check with your insurance company.
Regards.
