HP EliteDesk 800 G6 Desktop Mini PC (8WY24AV)

The Ethernet connection failed after working fine for 7 months.  WiFi still works.  The Cat6 cable and wall RJ-45 work fine with another computer.  The Ethernet 2 network device initially displayed here but no longer displays in Network Connections.

This is what I see in Device Manager.

The PC has been plugged into a surge protector and there is no indication that it tripped.  No problems with the 1GB fiber equipment or bridge.  No change after installing all Windows updates.  Tried updating driver and was told I had the latest already installed.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this works.

At the top of the device manager window, select the View option>Show hidden devices.

Scroll back down to the Network adapters device manager category and uninstall any light shaded ethernet connections that may be present. That is probably where your 'Ethernet 2' connection went.

Then right click on the Intel ethernet 11 connection, select Uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.

Restart the PC and hopefully, Windows will reinstall and reconfigure the Intel ethernet adapter, so it works again.

Fortunately, your PC has Wi-Fi so you still have another network resource you can use and that should be as fast as the ethernet adapter is.

Thanks for the suggestion.  Unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue.  Although the WiFi still works, for better security and faster download speed (915Mbps vs 295Mbps), I prefer a wired connection for this work-from-home PC.  The Elitedesk is still under warranty.  Do you know if this is a repair that would be covered by warranty?

You're very welcome.

If the PC is still under warranty, I don't see any reason why it would not be covered, but since I don't work for or represent HP, I can't make any promises.

The repair would entail a motherboard replacement since the ethernet adapter is an integral part of the motherboard.

If you have the HP support assistant installed, you should be able to submit a support case via that software.
