My HP ProDesk 400 G4 MT is having issues connecting to ethernet. I've tried multiple solutions but none work. My cousin says it randomly shut down. After that random shutdown, it wouldn't turn on for around 2 days.

My PC now turns on, but there is no Ethernet.

Anyone have a fix?

Hello @Izkaan, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If your HP ProDesk 400 G4 MT is experiencing Ethernet connectivity issues, here is a systematic approach to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Step 1: Verify Hardware Connections

  1. Check Ethernet Cable: Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the PC and the router. Try using a different cable if available.
  2. Inspect Ethernet Port: Examine the Ethernet port on your PC for any damage or debris that might obstruct the connection.

Step 2: Network Troubleshooting

  1. Restart Devices: Power off your router and HP ProDesk 400 G4 MT. Wait a few minutes and then power them back on. Sometimes, restarting devices can resolve connectivity issues.
  2. Network Configuration Page: Print or access the network configuration page to verify the IP settings. Ensure your PC is using the correct IP address for your network setup.

Step 3: Check Software and Drivers

  1. Network Drivers: Ensure the Ethernet drivers on your PC are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP support website for your model.
  2. Device Manager: Open the Device Manager on your PC:
  3. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  4. Locate Network Adapters and ensure your Ethernet adapter is listed and enabled.
  5. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, right-click and attempt to update the driver.

Step 4: Resolve Any System Conflicts

  1. Firewall and Security Software: Temporarily disable any firewall or security software to determine if they are blocking the network connection.
  2. Operating System Issues: Ensure your operating system is fully updated, as some updates may resolve underlying issues with device drivers and network configuration.
