Hi @Jnealy1,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Stream laptop might be having issues with the network adapter driver, especially if it’s not showing the Wi-Fi symbol and is prompting you to install the network adapter.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully fix the issue:

1. Check for Windows Updates:

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates. Sometimes, network drivers are included in Windows updates.

2. Reinstall Network Adapter Driver:

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Network adapters section.
  3. Right-click on the network adapter (if listed) and select Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop. Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.

3. Manually Update the Network Adapter Driver:

  1. Go to Device Manager as described above.
  2. Right-click on the network adapter (if listed) and select Update driver.
  3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

4. Install Drivers from HP Support Website:

  1. Visit the HP Support website.
  2. Enter your laptop’s model number and search for the latest network adapter drivers for Windows 11.
  3. Download and install the driver manually.

5. Check Network Settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet.
  2. Ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on.
  3. Click Advanced network settings and check if the Wi-Fi network adapter is listed there.

6. Check for Hardware Issues:

If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue with the Wi-Fi adapter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
