Hi @cherrymofu,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing an HP 230 external keyboard issue where only parts of the keyboard are working, try updating the keyboard drivers, checking the keyboard connection and settings, and cleaning the keyboard for potential debris or dirt. Do try the steps shared below and let me know how it works.

1. Check the Connection:

  • Wireless: For wireless keyboards, ensure the USB receiver is securely plugged into the computer and that the keyboard has power (batteries are fresh and in correctly or the keyboard is on).
  • Check for any packaging tabs preventing the keyboard from receiving power

2. Driver Issues:

  • Update Drivers:

Go to Device Manager (Windows Key + X, then Device Manager) > Keyboards and update the drivers for your keyboard.

  • Uninstall/Reinstall:

You can also uninstall and then reinstall the keyboard driver from Device Manager, then restart your computer to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.

3. Keyboard Settings:

  • Troubleshoot in Windows:

Run the Windows keyboard troubleshooter by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Keyboard and run the troubleshooter.

4. Clean the Keyboard:

  • Clean Debris: If certain keys are unresponsive, remove any dirt, crumbs, or debris by lightly using compressed air or a soft brush.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Vikram,

thanks for the support and apologies for the late message but unfortunately the solutions suggested by you didnt work. I had checked the drivers - all were latest drivers already. I had also cleaned the keyboard, and also tried the keyboard on my other laptop but its still the same result, only bottom half not working.
