HP ELITEBOOK 8440P

The internet keeps sending me the " this site can't be reached " to every website I try to go to even the home page.

My personal internet is connected to my laptop and internet works on my phone and another devices too  but not my laptop.

The same problem with all the surfing sites like Internet explorer, Chrome or Microsoft edge etc

@DESKTOP-7NPIR7I -- given that your other devices can connect to the cable-modem (or other device) supplied by your Internet Service Provider, that device is working, and that device has a good connection to the Internet.

 

So, the problem could be:

* the Ethernet cable between your computer and the cable-modem is not tightly-connected at both ends. Disconnect the cable, and then reconnect it. There should be a small "click" when it is fully inserted, at both ends.

* If the cable-modem has multiple Ethernet sockets, move the cable to a different socket, and try to connect.

* try a different Ethernet cable.

* if your computer has not been using an Ethernet cable, namely using WiFi to connect to the cable-modem, check that your computer is not in "airplane mode" -- which disables all attempts at a WiFi connection.

* on the bottom-right of the computer-screen, is there a "globe-with-latitude-and-longitude-lines"? If there is, move the mouse-pointer to that globe, and wait for a "balloon" to pop-up, with a message. What is the message?

* it is possible that the WiFi adapter inside your computer has failed.

* It is possible that the Ethernet adapter inside your computer has failed.

* it is possible that you have told Windows to "disable" either adapter.

* If your computer is a laptop, can you take it to the home of a friend/family, to see if you can connect to their home WiFi?  Or, businesses like Tim Hortons and Starbucks have "free WiFi". Take your laptop there, and try to connect.
