Hp 8635 officejet pro all in one
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Scan to email error message “you cannot use this function because it has been disabled.  For more information, contact the person who set up the printer(Which was a HP agent).  Under the Scan tab only webscan appears, no scan to email option, and the address book empty even though I saved 4 email addresses on the physical printer.

Hi @Nono2010

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  • Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  • On the printer homepage, click Scan in the top menu.

A 'You cannot use this function because it has been disabled' message displays.

Webscan error displays on the printer homepage

  • Click Settings in the top menu, click Security, and then click Administrator Settings.

A message displays that you are being redirected to a secure HTTPS-enabled page. Click OK or Redirect to HTTPS.

  • If a Your connection is not private message displays, click Advanced, and then click Proceed to [Printer IP address].

  • In the Administrator Settings, locate and select the box next to Webscan or Webscan from EWS, click Apply, and then click OK.

  • Return to the Scan menu, select the scan preferences, click Start Scan, and then follow the instructions to save the scan.

For more info on how to setup scan to email, kindly refer to this document. (Applies to Officejet printers too)
