Hello! I have a HP Envy computer and I recently got the T-mobile home internet 5g box. It works great and is pretty fast but the problem is that only on this specific device can I not access certain websites. It works just fine on my phone, my other laptop, TV, etc. I can access websites such as youtube, netflix, or amazon but if I were to go on websites such as reddit, twitch, or even Bank of America it would not work. What pops up when the site fails to load is basically chrome telling me the site cannot be reached. I did a windows network diagnostic and it said that there may be a problem with the driver for the wifi adapter or a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken (I am not using an ethernet cord, this is a wireless connection.) Please help! I have been dealing with this for weeks and I use this computer for everything. Thank you.

Hi @Jessicaziv,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about your connectivity issues. Let's troubleshoot your problem step-by-step.
Check for Windows and Driver Updates
- Windows Update: Make sure your Windows OS is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Driver Update: Update the driver for your Wi-Fi adapter. You can do this by going to Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Network adapters.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reset Network Settings
- Sometimes, resetting network settings can help resolve connectivity issues.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Scroll down and click on Network reset.
- Follow the prompts to reset.
DNS Settings
- Changing DNS settings can sometimes solve website accessibility issues. Try using Google’s DNS or Cloudflare's DNS:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
- Click on your Wi-Fi network and then Change adapter options.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi connection and select Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
- Choose Use the following DNS server addresses and enter:
- Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
- Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4
- Click OK and then restart your computer.
Clear DNS Cache
- Clearing the DNS cache can also help.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (search for "cmd" in the Start menu, right-click, and select Run as administrator).
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.
Check for VPN or Proxy Settings
- Ensure no VPN or proxy is interfering with your connection.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
- Make sure Use a proxy server is turned off (unless you specifically use one).
Firewall and Security Software
- Check if your firewall or any security software is blocking certain websites.
- Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus software and see if the issue persists.
- Make sure Windows Defender Firewall isn’t blocking the websites. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall and check the settings.

Check Router Settings
- Access your T-Mobile 5G home internet box settings to ensure there are no restrictions or filtering settings enabled that might affect your HP Envy.
- Log in to the router's web interface using its IP address (usually something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
- Check for any content filtering or parental controls that might be affecting your computer.
Reset Winsock
- Resetting Winsock can help with network-related issues.
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.
- Restart your computer.
Test in Safe Mode with Networking
- Boot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue persists. If it works, then a third-party application might be causing the problem.
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab and check Safe boot with Network.
- Apply the settings and restart.
Use a Different Browser
- Try accessing the problematic websites using a different browser (like Firefox or Edge) to see if the issue is specific to Chrome.
By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the connectivity issues on your HP Envy.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
