HP ProDesk 400 G6 Desktop Mini PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. I turn off the Wi-Fi, but it turns on by itself after restarting the computer.

I turn off the Wi-Fi like this: Start - Settings - Network and Internet - Wi-Fi - Wireless network - turn off the switch.

What do I need? I need that after I turn off the Wi-Fi, so that the Wi-Fi does not turn on.

Hi @Surikov

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

If your HP ProDesk 400 G6 Desktop Mini PC running Windows 11 keeps turning Wi-Fi back on after a restart—even after you've manually disabled it—this is likely due to a Windows feature that automatically manages wireless connections.

Here’s how you can stop Wi-Fi from turning on automatically:

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Disable Wi-Fi Auto Reconnect:

    • Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi.
    • Click on "Manage known networks".
    • Select the Wi-Fi network you usually connect to.
    • Toggle "Connect automatically when in range" to Off.
  2. Disable Wi-Fi Auto Switch:

    • In the same Wi-Fi settings, scroll down and click "Advanced network settings".
    • Click "More network adapter options".
    • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter > Properties.
    • Click Configure > go to the Power Management tab.
    • Uncheck: “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”.
  3. Use Device Manager to Disable Wi-Fi (Optional but Effective):

    • Press Windows + X > select Device Manager.
    • Expand Network adapters.
    • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter (e.g., Intel or Realtek) > Disable device.
    • This will keep Wi-Fi off until you manually re-enable it.
  4. Check Windows Wi-Fi Sense (if available):

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Wi-Fi Sense.
    • Turn off any options like "Connect to suggested open hotspots" or "Connect to networks shared by my contacts".

Max3Aj, this is not a solution to the problem, it is a workaround.

But the problem remains. It should not happen that the user turns off the switch, and after restarting the computer, the switch returns to its original state.

I know how to disable Wi-Fi, and I've found a solution.
But the problem remained - something was wrong with something, either with the computer or something else.
