I just bought a new HP Envy Desktop computer for my in-laws. This computer includes a wireless mouse and keyboard, and neither of them work with the computer. I installed new batteries in each, but there is no Bluetooth button on either device to pair them with the computer. The mouse actually does have an on/off button. When I turn the button on the little white light above it illuminates for probably 8 seconds, but the red LED never goes on for the pointer itself. The keyboard has no on/off/pairing button, no buttons of any kind.
How am I supposed to pair these devices to the computer when there is no method by which to pair them?

Hi @wrxnofx,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
It sounds like the wireless keyboard and mouse included with your HP Envy Desktop are not Bluetooth devices but instead use a USB wireless receiver (dongle) to connect to the computer.
Here are steps to troubleshoot and set them up:
Steps to Connect Wireless Keyboard and Mouse:
Locate the USB Wireless Receiver:
- Check the packaging of the keyboard and mouse or inside the battery compartment of the mouse or keyboard. Sometimes, the dongle is pre-installed in one of these devices.
Plug in the Receiver:
- Insert the USB wireless receiver into an available USB port on the HP Envy Desktop.
Turn On the Mouse:
- Ensure the mouse is switched on using the power button.
- The white light indicates the mouse is searching for the receiver.
Test the Devices:
- Once the receiver is plugged in, the keyboard and mouse should automatically connect.
- Test the pointer movement for the mouse and keypresses on the keyboard.
If It Still Doesn’t Work:
Check for Driver Installation:
- Once the USB receiver is connected, Windows should automatically install the necessary drivers. Wait a few moments for the setup to complete.
Try Another USB Port:
- Use a different USB port on the desktop to rule out a faulty port.
Replace Batteries:
- Ensure the batteries are new and correctly installed in both the keyboard and mouse.
Re-Sync the Devices:
- Some wireless devices have a re-sync process, usually involving holding a specific button. Refer to the user manual if the devices have this feature.
