HP ENVY Desktop - 750-150xt CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a HP ENVY Desktop - 750-150xt CTO, with windows 10 and the intel AC-7260 wireless card. I am looking for a replacement for the AC-7260

Any suggestions?

Why do you want to replace it? What's wrong with it?

The internet connection keeps dropping. I have to manually keep re-setting it

The thread below explains the issue in detail.

https://communities.intel.com/thread/123401

I cannot keep manually resetting and other solutions mentioned in the above thread don't seem to work. Hence want to replace the wireless adapter and looking for inputs on suitable replacement.

Thanks for your reply.

Understood.

By the look of it it's the 'Microsoft blaming Intel, Intel blaming Microsoft' type of issue - where nothing gets resolved, and if so, definitely not within the usable lifespan of the device.

Kind-of-matches my similar experiences with AMD & HP, as described by me here:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Software-and-How-To-Questions/AMD-R9-380-latest-driver-availab...

For what it's worth: I got 7260 myself back in 2015 to replace non-performing Bradcom-based card in my VAIO laptop.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00N7474CS/

And it works and performs very well ever since, and in both 2.4 & 5 GHz bands - but under Win 8.1.

Entirely coincidentally, I started having issues with Bluetooth with Intel's latest drivers (20.x) that were released in back in June:

https://communities.intel.com/thread/130241

Once I revert back to 19.x, everything's fine.

Perhaps you should just revert to the drivers that work - as it's seemingly resolves the problem?

When it comes to replacement suggestions, I might not offer you any I'm afraid. Did you check what Intel has on offer recently (I am not great fan of Broadcom)?

Hi - thanks for your reply.

Under Windows 10 - rollback does not work. I read somewhere online that rollback to 17.5 version driver could help. However i am not able to find that version anywhere on the intel site.

Hence looking for a replacement for AC-7260.

Is there any site/support where i can get suggestions on a valid replacement to this wireless card?

Any similar shape/size card will do - I am not that well positioned to advise you on details I'm afraid.

However, as you mentioned in the other thread, that older driver (version 17.15.0.5) works for you: why don't you roll back to them (not Windows)?

I guess Intel installation file can be extracted from here (courtesy of Dell):

https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukdhs1/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=x15c9

(it was very quick search, I bet there are other places where these drivers can be located)

Worth trying?

Thanks for this link. I shall try to install the driver from this and check.

Thanks for your help.

Great. Don't forget to update us with the outcome (and you may have to faff with this installation package a bit, i think, but still should be able to use it to install these drivers).
