I currently own a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Both from hp, Both using a 2.4Ghz dongle to connect to pc.
Keyboard:  HP Dual Mode 1000 (18J71AA)

Mouse: HP Comfort Grip Wireless Mouse (H2L63AA)

I hate having 2 usb ports used by them. How do I configure 1 dongle for both the keyboard and the mouse?

No you can't but your keyboard also uses BT, you can connect it to BT on your computer and use one USB to connect to the mouse
