Hi - bought a HP 230 wireless keyboard and mouse combo in Mar-2025 from Amazon. I’ve connected the dongle to laptop and only the mouse works. Keyboard starts working for 30 seconds then becomes non responsive. Serial No is not recognised on the HP website so I cannot get any assistance/replacement. Please advise?

Hi @Redfox45, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are a few things you can try to fix your HP 230 wireless keyboard issue:
Check the Batteries
- Replace the batteries with fresh ones to rule out power issues.
Re-Pair the Keyboard
- Turn off the keyboard, remove the USB receiver, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Turn the keyboard back on and check if it reconnects.
Test on Another Device
- Plug the dongle into another computer and see if the keyboard works properly.
Remove Interference
- Avoid placing the receiver near other wireless devices that might cause interference.
Update Drivers
- Open Device Manager → Expand Keyboards → Right-click HID Keyboard Device → Select Update Driver.
- Also, update USB controllers in the same way.
Reset Keyboard
- Some HP keyboards have a reset button (check underneath the keyboard). If available, press and hold it for 10-15 seconds.
Check for Power Saving Settings
- Open Device Manager → Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Right-click USB Root Hub → Properties → Power Management → Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
If these steps don't work, then please visit the nearest HP authorized service center along with accessory and invoice copy.
