@AJ1422 -- I'm sure I had bluetooth connectivity
I believe you.
Posted on 01-08-2022 03:32 PM -- Can you temporarily move the Bluetooth dongle to another computer, to see if it is OK?
Posted on 01-09-2022 11:26 AM -- have you been able to test the dongle at least with another computer?
Is there an "echo" in this forum, or just a plagiarist ? 🙂

Thank you for your help with this, I think I must have imagined that there was bluetooth? I've now checked the 'network' and no bluetooth listed.
I was using a dongle. Although the computer recognises it when I plug it in, it's not working and I've double checked on another computer. I've updated a load of drives recently and I think it must have been knocked out then. It's not something I use all the time. Computer is now 7 years old and probably due for an upgrade as it's dying a slow death - takes forever to load anything but I'm nursing it along until I have to replace it.

so it works with another computer, is that what you say?
When you try with your computer, you say that it is detected, but it is present or not in the device manager?
Did you try other usb ports
the product page mentions usb 2.0 and 3.0 try the 2.0
notice i wasn't saying i didn't believe you but just questioned with the hp info!
in general i'm not the type to give up, as long as i think i can try to find a solution
I will only use as a last resort, the option to send the user, spend money on a professional
Now if you tell me that you haven't had enough I'll leave it there

I would blame a "failing" disk-drive for the slowness.
For about $50, I would buy a 250 or 500 GB SSD, and "clone" everything (using MACRIUM REFLECT) from the current disk-drive to the SSD, and then boot from the SSD.

I've tried the bluetooth dongle in other ports and on another computer, it registers it with the 'ping' but not working and recognises when you remove it too! Hubby says to treat myself to a new pc as this one is now driving me nuts, everything about it is a pain. It's not like it's full of rubbish or the HD is full! Most stuff on an ext. disk. Hey ho, built in obsolescence. Thanks for all the help though!

Sorry, I have a hard time understanding whether or not your dongle works with another computer or not
If it doesn't work with another computer, then that's probably the problem.
Now, your computer having already 7 years, indeed, spending money on it, may not be the best solution.
I probably didn't suggest you, you can do at least the full tests
HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures | HP® Customer Support
If there are any hardware problems, you will probably have an indication
to see then, if we leave it there
"Hubby says to treat myself to a new pc "
if it is he who offers ....
