HP 435 Multi-Device Wireless Mouse
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello. My mouse for some reason stopped working with usb dongle. Is there a way how to  repair to usb reciever? I've tried to install HP accessory center, but there is no option to repair to USB receiver.

Holding connect button for 5/10/20 seconds doesn't work.  When switching to USB reciever light turns on for 5 seconds.

I've tried different USB ports and different computers. Computer does see the receiver, but mouse still doesn't work.

@Victor199, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Wireless Mouse Issues with USB Dongle!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your wireless mouse has stopped working with the USB dongle, you can try several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Resynchronizing the Wireless Mouse

  1. Check Battery: Ensure the wireless mouse has fresh batteries. Wireless devices often stop working due to depleted batteries.
  2. Reconnect the USB Dongle: Unplug the receiver from the USB port on the computer and then reconnect it properly. Sometimes, it may help to plug it into a different USB port.
  3. Resynchronize:
    • Remove and Reinsert Dongle: Remove the USB dongle, wait for the USB tone, and then insert it into a different USB port.
    • Connect Button: Hold the wireless mouse close to the USB receiver. Press and hold the connect button on the mouse for about 5-10 seconds and watch for any lights or indications on the dongle.
    • Receiver Light: If the dongle has a light, ensure it is solid or flashing, indicating synchronization.

Using HP Accessory Center

HP Accessory Center (HPAC) can be used to manage connected devices and may help you troubleshoot further:

  1. Install HP Accessory Center:
    • Download and install HPAC from the Microsoft Store or the App Store.
  2. Add New Device:
    • Open HP Accessory Center and click "Add new device".
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and pair your mouse with the dongle.
    • Ensure that your mouse is turned on and in pairing mode.
  3. Merge Connections:
    • If the HP Unifying Dongle is connected, HPAC may offer an "Automatically Merge Dongles" screen. Follow the instructions to merge the new device with the unifying dongle.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello.

Thanks for reply.

Battery is fine, because bluetooth mode is working fine.

I've tried reconnecting USB dongle multiple times to different USB ports and even different computer without luck. Computer sees that dongle is connected.

Resynchronization doesn't work either.

HP Accessory Center does work only with bluetooth mode. Couldn't find anything similar to  "synchronize" or Merge Connections

Here is small video clip where I show that mouse does work with bluetooth and doesn't work with dongle.

Hi @Victor199

Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing the update. I really appreciate you checking all those steps already — and that short video clip was super helpful in confirming that your mouse works fine over Bluetooth. That narrows it down quite a bit. 😊

Since the dongle is being detected by your computer, but the mouse isn’t responding to it, it’s likely the pairing link between them may have broken. Let’s try a couple more advanced steps to rule out system-level issues:

Check for Hidden Drivers or Conflicts

Sometimes, leftover or duplicate drivers can cause connection issues — even when things appear normal. Here’s how to clean things up:

On your keyboard, press Windows + X and select Device Manager.

Expand the sections “Mice and other pointing devices” and “Universal Serial Bus controllers.”

Look for any entries that are greyed out or duplicated.

Right-click and choose Uninstall for those entries.

Once done, unplug your USB dongle, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in — preferably in a different USB port.

This allows your system to do a fresh reinstall of the drivers, which might restore communication between the dongle and mouse.

Try Connecting in a Clean Boot Environment

To rule out any background apps or services interfering with the mouse connection:

Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and hit Enter.

In the System Configuration window, go to the Services tab.

Check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all.

Now go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.

Disable all startup apps listed there.

Restart your PC and try reconnecting the mouse via the dongle.

This starts your system with only essential services running, so we can isolate whether a third-party program is blocking the pairing.
