My desktop was working find with a wireless connection when it suddenly stopped and said no internet available. I keep reconnecting but it won't connect with the internet.

Hi @Railroader72,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Are other devices (phone, laptop, TV) able to connect to the same Wi-Fi and access the internet?
  • What version of Windows is your HP desktop running?
  • Does the Wi-Fi status say “Connected, no internet” or “No internet”?
  • Did this start after a Windows update, power outage, or router restart?
  • Are you using the built-in HP wireless adapter or a USB Wi-Fi adapter?

Troubleshooting steps to try

Here are some simple steps that often resolve this kind of issue:

  1. Restart your modem, router, and computer
    • Power off the modem and router for about 60 seconds
    • Turn them back on and wait until all lights are stable
    • Restart your HP desktop and try connecting again
  2. Forget and reconnect to the Wi-Fi network
    • Go to Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi
    • Select your network, click Forget, then reconnect and re-enter the password
  3. Check if the problem is only on this computer
    • If other devices work fine, the issue is likely with the desktop’s network settings or driver
    • If no devices have internet, the problem may be with your router or internet service provider
  4. Run the Windows Network Troubleshooter
    • Settings → Network & Internet → Status → Network troubleshooter
    • This can automatically detect and fix common issues
  5. Disable and re-enable the wireless adapter
    • Right-click Start → Device Manager
    • Expand Network adapters
    • Right-click the wireless adapter → Disable, wait a few seconds, then Enable
  6. Check or update the Wi-Fi driver
    • In Device Manager, look for any warning icons
    • If the issue started after an update, try rolling back the driver
    • Otherwise, update the driver from HP’s support website for your desktop model
  7. Try a different network if possible
    • Connect to a mobile hotspot
    • If that works, the issue may be with your home router settings

I hope this helps.
