Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I've recently bought a computer and I'm trying to connect to the 5ghz wifi. I know my router supports it because my phone, my laptop, and both of my xboxs are connected to it. I don't know exactly what kind of computer I have since my girlfriend's brother built it. I was wondering if someone could give me step by step instructions on how to get it or tell me why I cant get it.

Please ask him: did he put wireless card on the machine ? If yes then what is it ? He may put  wifi card which ONLY supports 2.4GHz.

Please allow your router to broadcast dual bands which are 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz. Your computer may pick up otherwise ask the guy to make sure he put a wifi card to your machine.

Regards.

What is your machine EXACTLY ? The HP Envy 700 series can have models from 700-000 to 700-999 for example the following HP ENVY 700-414

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04453446

This machine ONLY has  Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11b/g/n featuring Single-band (2.4Ghz) 1 x 1 technology. You machine may have same adapter which only supports 2.4GHz that why it can't see 5.0GHz

You have to allow your router to broadcast dual bands which are 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz otherwise your computer won't pick up.

Regards.
