Hi @Ckelley1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about the keyboard issue, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you please share the exact model number of your HP desktop?

Also, let me know if the keyboard and mouse are the ones that came bundled with the PC or if they were purchased separately.

In the meantime, here are a few quick checks you can try:

  • Power and batteries: Make sure fresh batteries are installed correctly in both the keyboard and mouse. Some models also have a small power switch underneath confirm it’s turned on.
  • Wireless receiver: If your devices use a USB dongle, ensure it’s firmly plugged into a working USB port on the desktop. Try moving it to another port if needed.
  • Pairing process: Some HP wireless keyboards and mice need to be paired manually. Look for a “Connect” button on the devices and press it after plugging in the receiver.
  • Interference check: Keep the keyboard and mouse close to the desktop during setup, and remove any nearby wireless devices that could interfere.
  • Restart: After plugging in the receiver and powering on the devices, restart your computer to see if they connect automatically.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
