No Wifi or Ethernet Connectivity

HP Recommended
Pav p6-2310
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

About 6 months ago I lost wifi and tried various ethernet cables with no luck.  I ended up just buying another PC but would really like to get this one back up and running now that losing the stored files are no longer an issue.  Yesterday I did the complete reset and still cannot get online.  I'm using a brand new cat5e ethernet cable and everything else using the internet connection is running fine.  Any suggestions?

I’d love to help!

I recommend you perform a test on the wireless card and the network card to make sure that the hardware is working fine.

Follow the steps in the below article to perform the test.

Hi!  Thanks for this, I will try it on Monday when I am back in the office.  In the meantime I was able to get access with a wireless usb adapter, which makes me think the main issue is a component  failure.  I appreciate you getting back to me!

I downloaded the latest version of hp diagnostics and ran the test - everything passed.  Did that inlclude checking the wireless card?  I didn't see that mentioned in the test.

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

Please follow the below steps to run a test on the wireless card.

  1. Select Start, and then select HP Help and Support. Right-click HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows, select More, and then select Run as administrator.

Opening HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows

  2. The app opens to the main menu. Click Component Tests.

    Opening the Component Tests menu

  3. The Component Tests menu displays. Click the plus sign next to each component to expand the selection.

Your Component Tests menu might be different, depending on the components installed on your computer.
