I read Zooeys response to a similar question from June 2025. I also have no network connectivity on my HP Envy desktop even though the laptop next to it connects perfectly. When I go to and click on " Internet and networking "on the system page for this windows 10 desktop, the dialogue box disappears after clicking ( other categories do not disappear.)and it will not open the internet connectivity. Additionally, the icon for my internet connection has disappeared ( and is not hidden) from the task bar. This all started after this desktop got stuck in opening after an update so I went back and removed the quality update. I don't know if that did it. Mistakenly calling my my internet provider, they saw the keyboard wireless dongle and said incorrectly that that was the networking dongle ( networking is internal to this desktop. Needless to say, I cannot connect this desktop to my wifi connection and I am one room away from the router so no ethernet cable is possible. taking an advanced look at networking all says my Realtek drivers are up to date. Will I have to go to an HP service at Best Buy?

The parts list for your PC indicates that it comes with a Realtek RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter.
There is a much newer Wi-Fi driver for that model Wi-Fi adapter than what is on the support page.
Realtek RTL8xxx Wireless LAN Drivers
2024.10.230.600
You may as well update the Bluetooth driver too.
Realtek RTL8xxx Series Bluetooth Driver
1.10.1072.3000
If updating the driver doesn't resolve the problem, I do not recommend putting any money into getting the Realtek card fixed or replaced.
You can buy a dual band USB Wi-Fi adapter and use that to connect wirelessly.
Something like this:
You can continue to use the Realtek Wi-Fi card's onboard Bluetooth adapter for Bluetooth unless that's not working either in which case you can buy a USB combination Wi-Fi/bluetooth adapter:

Thank you- I will try to see if I can download the realtek driver to my laptop and send it by bluetooth to the non networked desktop,. I had actuallt purchased a TP-Link wireless USB adapter but unfortunateley when I load the CD that it comes with into the desktop, it does not automatically run and , because there is no internet connection, I cannot download an online version of its driver.

You're very welcome.
You can copy the driver you download onto your laptop to a USB flash drive, plug it into your PC's USB port, copy it to the Windows desktop and run it from there.
You can probably also do that with the TP-Link driver disk.
Copy the files to a USB flash drive.
