Hp envyx360

I shutdown my computer  (HP Envyx360)and turned back on it won’t connect to my WiFi. I have done all the “fixes” - and the weird thing is - it connects to any other WiFi or hotspot- just not to my home WiFi. Other PC’s in our home as well as iPads and iPhones can all connect.

i have no idea what to do- and have tried to set up new user acct-and a myriad of other things - but nothing I have read on the internet addresses a Pc not connecting to just a specific WiFi

Hi @rob4kids,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue might be related to a conflict between your HP Envy x360 and your home WiFi network settings.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Forget and Reconnect to the Network

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
  2. Network & Internet: Go to Network & Internet.
  3. WiFi: Select WiFi from the left-hand menu.
  4. Manage Known Networks: Click on Manage known networks.
  5. Forget the Network: Find your home network in the list, click on it, and select Forget.
  6. Reconnect: Go back to the WiFi settings and reconnect to your home network by entering the password again.

2. Update Network Drivers

  1. Device Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Network Adapters: Expand the Network adapters section.
  3. Update Driver: Right-click on your WiFi adapter and select Update driver.
  4. Search Automatically: Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

3. Reset Network Settings

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I.
  2. Network & Internet: Go to Network & Internet.
  3. Status: Scroll down and click on Network reset.
  4. Reset Now: Click Reset now and confirm. This will restart your computer and reset all network adapters to default settings.

4. Check Router Settings

  • MAC Address Filtering: Ensure that your router isn't set to block the MAC address of your HP Envy x360. You can find your MAC address by typing ipconfig /all in Command Prompt and looking for the "Physical Address" under your WiFi adapter.
  • SSID and Password: Make sure the SSID and password are correct and match what you are trying to connect to.

5. Change WiFi Channel

  1. Router Admin Page: Log into your router's admin page (usually by entering the router's IP address in your web browser, such as 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
  2. WiFi Settings: Find the WiFi settings section.
  3. Channel: Change the WiFi channel to a different one (preferably 1, 6, or 11 for 2.4 GHz networks).

6. Disable IPv6

  1. Open Network Connections: Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Properties: Right-click on your WiFi connection and select Properties.
  3. Uncheck IPv6: Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click OK.

7. DNS Settings

  1. Open Network Connections: Press Windows + R, type ncpa.cpl, and press Enter.
  2. Properties: Right-click on your WiFi connection and select Properties.
  3. IPv4 Properties: Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  4. Use DNS: Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter 8.8.8.8 for Preferred and 8.8.4.4 for Alternate.
  5. OK: Click OK and restart your computer.

8. Check for Windows Updates

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I.
  2. Update & Security: Go to Update & Security.
  3. Check for Updates: Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

9. Router Firmware Update

  • Router Admin Page: Log into your router's admin page.
  • Firmware Update: Look for the firmware update section and follow the instructions to update your router's firmware.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
