Motherboard: Manufacturer HP Model 8653 (U3E1) Version A (SMVB)

BIOS: F.20 05/29/2020

Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller is listed in device manager under network adapters on my computer.  It is my wired ethernet component.  As recently as 4/7/2020 it was listed on my HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-0050 computer’s webpage when I checked for updates.  Now it has disappeared from the web page.  I don’t know what is the correct updated driver because none of the network adapters listed is on my computer.

Why would HP change the components listed on my computer’s web page?  What is going on?

I have tried three times to edit this post to include a picture and I can't do it so I will try to include a picture in a reply.2020-09-06 Realtek Network Adapter.jpg

OK never mind I can't post a picture here.  But I still would like to know why Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller is no longer listed on my computers web page.

Sorry, I came back and see that my second attempt to post a picture worked after all.

Received an email that someone had answered my question but no one has.  I guess a computer generated an email to me because I added information to my post and it wasn't an answer at all.

Does anyone out there know which available network driver goes with my network adapter,  Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller.

Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller is not listed on my computers web page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-desktop-pc-tp01-0000i/29014367/model/31...

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

I do not have a notebook.  I have a desktop.  My  HPSA looks nothing like the picture you sent,

Also there are often driver updates available even when HPSA does not report them.  I don't know why.

I have HPSA v. 9.6.714.0 which was updated 9/3/2020 overnight.  Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update: 9WZDNCRDRBFB-AD2F1837.HPSUPPORTASSISTANT per Reliability Monitor.

Are you facing any performance issues or just the Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller is missing?

Back in January I posted about a Warning WHEA-logger event 17 recorded in event viewer about 450 per hour on first computer, HP ENVY TE01-0014, turned on January 10.  Advised to take it back to Best Buy.

Got current computer HP Pavilion Desktop - TP01-0050 and discovered same warning.

It was not there when I first turned on the new computer on January 28, 2020.  It appears to have started on January 31st, which is when the original HP Support Assistant installed two driver packages. (HPSA has been updated since January.)

1) Realtek RTL8xxxSeries Wireless LAN Drivers for Microsoft Windows 10

(DCHU) SoftPaq number: sp100552 Version: 2024.0.10.209 Size 12.91MB

2)And a Bluetooth Audio Driver which is now greyed out and a pop up says it is no longer available.  (There was also a Bluetooth error until I just turned Bluetooth off.)

See: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Warning-WHEA-logger-event-17-re...

But my problem seems to be the ethernet not wireless connection.  So, don’t know why wireless update would affect it.

This warning still running between 8-17 times a day, 63 in the last 7 days.  I am still waiting to see if new driver will fix the problem.

Research in January found lots about it on the internet over several years, several brands of computer not just HP.  I don’t want to change computers again.

I kept looking for a solution and a few days ago I found one thing that stops the WHEA-logger event 17 warning.  Disable Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller.  It worked.  No more WHEA-logger event 17 warnings.  But also, no more ethernet connection.  So, I turned it back on.  I prefer ethernet.

Some indication that the problem arises from a Windows 10 update or an HP update for BIOS or drive back in per January googling.  But there have been many Windows Updates and recently a Bios update from HPSA on 8/4/2020 installed BIOS AMI F.20, 5/29/2020.  No change.

Keep thinking Realtek and/or Microsoft will fix problem as it is thought to be a driver not getting along with Windows 10.  So, I keep looking for driver updates.

I can’t seem to find updates for Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller and don’t know if it would make things better or worse since HP doesn’t even list this on my computer’s webpage anymore.

This does sound like a Driver incompatibility issue

Please try these steps

1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del, select Task Manager.

2. From the File menu, select Run new task.

3. Put a check mark next to Create this task with administrative privileges and tap or click OK.

4. Type cmd and hit Enter.

5. Type the following commands in same order in the Command prompt window:

a. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

(This command scans and verifies the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct versions).

b. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth and press Enter.

c. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and press Enter.

d. Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and press Enter.

(These commands fix any files that System File Checker can't repair and Windows corruption errors).

e. Close the command window.

Also perform a clean boot. Link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows and let me know if the issue persists

Thank you

Already done as you suggest.  Scans (sfc and DISM) are always good.  Only thing not disabled in Task Manager at start up is Windows Security Notification icon.  I keep other stuff disabled, no need to load.  There is a bunch of HP apps running per msconfig which is already set at Selective start up because of services I already keep disabled.

Only services running:

-Adobe update

-APC data and ups service

-Intel content Protection HECI and HDCP

-HP Comm Recovery, Helper HSA, Network HSA, System info HSA, Analytics

-Intel Graphics Control panel, Dynamic application loader host interface service and  Storage middleware Service

-Realtek Audio Universal Service

Warning event 17

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Endpoint

Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Primary Bus:Device:Function: 0x1:0x0:0x0

Secondary Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x0:0x0

Primary Device Name:PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_8653103C&REV_16

Secondary Device Name:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_8653103C&REV_16 cannot be found on the internet.  The “8653103C&REV_16” part does not exist in google world.

This is the source of the error per Event Viewer.  It interacts with Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller somehow or maybe is part of it and I guess that may be why when Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller is disabled the event 17 stops.

It is just a warning and does not seem to affect computer is any way I can see.  Until I look at Event Viewer and there  is warning event 17.

Also, the wireless network adapter, Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter, has never started from the first time I turned the computer on.

So I really don't know what is going on but there is a lot of it .  WHEA logger event code 17 all over for many years.
