Hello everyone,
I have tried all of the solutions posted here, except deleting my drivers and nothing seems to be working. Is this a common problem? It took me 3-4 days for my new g7-1150us notebook just to recognize my home network and finally connect to the internet.
I am connected however I seem to have a red x on my internet icon in the task bar. What now???
Thanks ahead for your help.

I had this problem almost immediately after a Microsoft security update.
To remove it I went to Start, the Control Panel, Remove Programs, and then selected the link at the left that said Installed Updates and had to manually uninstall each security update it had made on that date. Then I rebooted and it was back to normal.

in the tray box, where all wifi connections available are shown.
I am getting a red cross mark against only my wifi connection and on clicking over the cross mark it says that "The settings saved on this computer for the entwork do not match the requirements of the network."
What does it mean ?
