Retain passwords when new

software installs

Hi @CrystalDiamond5

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Before jumping into solutions, I’d like to understand your setup a bit better so I can guide you precisely.

  • Which product or software are you referring to when you say “new software installs”? Is this about operating system installs (like Linux, Windows, Zorin, etc.), or application installs (like browsers, office suites, etc.)?
  • Are you looking to retain saved passwords (like Wi‑Fi, system logins, or browser credentials), or application‑specific ones (like email accounts, cloud services)?
  • Do you want this retention to happen automatically during installation, or are you asking about ways to back them up and restore them afterward?

For example, retaining Wi‑Fi and browser passwords during a fresh OS install is a different process than keeping credentials safe when installing a new app. Once I know the exact product and context, I can walk you through the right approach.

Would you like to clarify which type of install and which passwords you’re most concerned about?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
