Looking for help regarding extremely slow download speed and speedtest returns. I pay for 1Gig ATT service. I am currently getting 50-80 MB/s down and up when using speedtest.net with both wifi and ethernet. The download speeds I get via steam and other locations are even slower. This is extremely frustrating and I am at the point of returning this product and never buying HP again. My macbook download speeds and speed test on the exact same network push 600 MB/s download and the same for uploads. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, changing adapter settings, and basically everything I know/have read besides getting another computer. The ethernet adapter is Realtek Gaming GbE Family Controller. I've even changed from Windows 11 to Windows 10. The adapter can go up to 1000 MB/s. Please help.

@LM110 -- disconnect the Ethernet cable from your Macbook, and connect it to your other computer, and re-test the speed.  If changing to a different Ethernet cable helps, then you have your answer.

Didn't work. Unsure if that would be the issue since both ethernet and wifi both experience the same issue.

@LM110 -- what WiFi adapter do you have in your computer? What speeds does it support? A? B? G? N? AC? AX?

How fast is your computer's processor.  Those "speed-test" sites require a minimum of 2.5 Ghz per processor, to run the test at full speed.

Do you have your own router "between" your ISP's device and your computer?

If so, have you powered-off/powered-on that device, to "refresh" it?
