Why does my system keep wanting to update the Bluetooth driver?

When I look at the update history it is asking to update the driver and rotates between 2 different ones.

I am using the Support Assistant. This has been going on for a few months now. When I check in Device Manager to update the driver it says I am using the latest one.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you

Hi @MichaelDav,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion 31.5 Inch All-In-One Desktop PC system keeps wanting to update the Bluetooth driver, there could be several reasons behind this issue. Here are some steps you can take to address the problem.

Check Updates from HP Support Assistant: HP provides a software called HP Support Assistant that can help you manage and update drivers, including Bluetooth drivers. Make sure you're using the latest version of HP Support Assistant and check if the updates it suggests are indeed necessary.

Manually Update Bluetooth Driver: You can manually update the Bluetooth driver through the Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager".
  • Locate "Bluetooth" in the list, right-click on your Bluetooth device, and select "Update driver".
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.

Download Driver from HP Website: Visit the official HP website and go to the support section. Search for your specific model and download the latest Bluetooth driver from there. Sometimes, the drivers available on the official website are more stable than those offered through automatic updates.

Uninstall and Reinstall Bluetooth Driver: If the updates are still causing issues, you might consider uninstalling the Bluetooth driver and then reinstalling it.

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your Bluetooth device and select "Uninstall device".
  • After uninstalling, restart your computer.
  • Windows might automatically reinstall the driver upon restart. If not, go to the HP website or use HP Support Assistant to install the driver.

Windows Update: Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, Windows updates can include important driver updates that might fix issues.

Check for Conflicts: Sometimes, other software or hardware conflicts can cause driver update issues. Make sure there are no conflicting programs or devices causing problems with the Bluetooth driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4

Thank you for the suggestions. I will try these after I see if the other one I tried, letting Norton 360 update the driver, works. The problem usually shows itself every week or so.

I have already tried some of the things you suggest.

Fingers crossed. Will keep on trying.
