I have this error and so far they haven't been able to fix it. It happens once, sometimes twice a day, often after midnight, occasionally late in the afternoon. I have spent a total of about 8 hours on HP Service Chat over the past three weeks. A week ago, they completely replaced the OS, requiring me to make a recovery disk (thumb  drive) and they completely reloaded the OS, firmware, and I think everything that uses code. This required nearly four hours monitoring and responding on Chat.

It still didn't work. And today, I requested a repair ticket (or replacement) but they wanted one more try so they updated a couple drivers (this was also  done 10 days ago) and installed more Windows updates.

Good luck. Previous to contacting HP, I ran all the diagnostics and couldn't find anything.

I have not tried hardwiring the modem. Your comment about Wi-fi makes me think that might be a solution, although maybe a minor inconvenience. My pokey Windows 10 desktop runs for weeks on an ethernet connection.
